CGL stands for Central Gem Laboratory. Head office is in Tokyo. In Antwerp, they work together with HRD (Diamond High Council).
Excellent cut stones in Antwerp are mostly certified by CGL.
Double grading, double quality guarantee:- The first grading
on color and clarity is done by HRD.
- Secondly, the CGL also grades color
and clarity.
- If both gradings are identical, the sorting memo will carry the
labels of both HRD and CGL. (If they differ, only CGL will be mentioned on
the sorting memo.)
- On proportions, CGL gives a grade with a maximum of 'excellent'.
- Finally,
the CGL also grades a H&A-pattern, by putting a stamp on the sorting memo,
with a drawing of either H&A, Hearts only, or no pattern at all.
The sorting parcel memo that comes with your excellent cut purchase from Blanka Diamonds, indicates: color, clarity, proportions, a possible H&A-stamp, and also diameter and depth.
In Tokyo, you may change this sorting memo into a full certificate at the CGL.
